Tallon Griekspoor vs Gabriel Diallo prediction

Tallon Griekspoor picked up two victories in Vienna before having to withdraw from his round-of-16 match with Alexander Zverev due to a back injury. The Dutchman showed his quality against Karen Khachanov in the first-round as he came through a tight three set match, and he then produced another fine display to beat Brandon Nakashima in straight sets. Griekspoor seems to have found some form again after a very poor run following his Mallorca Championships title win at the end of June.

Gabriel Diallo is his opponent in round one. The Canadian last competed in Basel but lost in the first-round to compatriot and good friend Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. This followed a similarly poor campaign in Almaty as he lost in the second-round to James Duckworth. Diallo has still had a brilliant year, having raced up the rankings and won his first ATP title, but he seems to be running on empty with the season drawing to a close.

Griekspoor leads the head-to-head 2-0 after two matches earlier in the year. He defeated Diallo in the second-round of the French Open and then went on to beat him again in the quarter-finals of Mallorca on his way to the title. He should be fully recovered from his slight problem and has the firepower to overwhelm Diallo at times.
