Qinwen Zheng hit the comeback trail to defeat Maria Sakkari in Nottingham.

The Chinese star beat the sixth seed 4-6 7-6 6-4 and will now face world number 66 Talia Gibson after the Aussie edged out Britain’s Fran Jones 6-3 5-7 7-6.

Zheng recently tumbled down the WTA ladder after losing a host of ranking points, but she is beginning find her feet again after injury and her firepower in fast conditions should make her a clear favourite in this, despite being down at 160 at the moment.
