The Argentine survived a mid-match blip to race clear in the decider and post a 6-4 3-6 6-1 success over the Canadian.

The world number 90 will now meet Suzan Lamens for the first time after the Dutch ace also avoided the upset with a 3-6 7-6 6-2 victory over Brazilian home hope Carolina Alves. 

It was world number 182, Lamens’ first main draw win of 2026 and she will now relish this chance given she arguably has a better hardcourt game than Sierra.

The South American will be motivated to keep progressing so close to home, so it may well be a battle and we can see it going three, although a punt on Lamens may offer odds worth the risk.
