Suzan Lamens vs Beatriz Haddad Maia prediction 

Suzan Lamens came through a tricky first-round encounter against Polina Kudermetova in a deciding set to set up an intriguing clash with Beatriz Haddad Maia. 

Lamens was efficient with her break points taking seven of the 11 she generated and that arguably made the difference in a match where there was not a great deal between the two players. 

She will have to raise her game against Haddad Maia who is seeded 18th in Montreal this week. 

The Brazilian rose to prominence in this tournament back in 2022 where she made it to the final – her first and only WTA 1000 singles final to date – but she lost a three-set battle to Simone Halep. 

She has been knocked out in the second round the last two years so will be eager to get a win or two under her belt this week. However, the concern is that she has no real form behind her.  

Lamens is not exactly firing on all cylinders herself though, so while this is a potential banana skin based on Haddad Maia’s average form, we do not see enough in Lamens to spring the upset.
