Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Reilly Opelka prediction

Stefanos Tsitsipas returns to the event which he has reached the final of four times but never been on the winning side. That includes last year, which saw him lose to Casper Ruud in straight sets. He failed to regain his title at the Monte-Carlo Masters, as he fell to a quarter-final defeat to Lorenzo Musetti.

That means the Greek is outside of the top 15 of the world rankings for the first time since October 2018. He has more points to defend here and can’t afford an early exit at an event where he has largely been successful, at least in terms of reaching the final.

He faces Reilly Opelka, who will play his first match on clay this season. His last tournament was in Miami, which saw him defeat 11th seed Holger Rune before losing to Tomas Machac in the third round. 

The head-to-head is 1-1, with the American having won their last match but they’ve never faced each other on clay. We can’t see anything other than a comfortable win for Tsitsipas to get his tournament up and running.
