Stefanos Tsitsipas enjoyed his best win of the season so far as he defeated old foe Daniil Medvedev to make his first quarter-final of the season. The former world number three served well and was able to create opportunities for himself as he defeated Medvedev 6-3 6-4. This was just the second time he had beaten Medvedev on an outdoor hard court.
He now takes on defending champion Andrey Rublev. The Russian was in control of his match against Fabian Marozsan, winning 6-2 6-4 to make the last eight for a fourth consecutive year. This extended his winning run at the event to seven matches.
Rublev leads the head-to-head 6-5, but they have not played each other since 2022. Tsitsipas will be confident after his victory in the previous round, but it’s difficult to look past Rublev, who enjoys a strong record at this tournament and knows how to beat the Greek on a consistent basis with his aggressive style.
