Stan Wawrinka vs Botic van de Zandschulp prediction

Stan Wawrinka is set to end another season as a professional, having first become pro in 2002. He has been handed few wildcards on the ATP Tour recently, having competed in Shanghai but losing in round one, despite taking Fabian Marozsan to three sets. One of his best moments of the season came in Basel as he delighted the home faithful with a brilliant performance to defeat Miomir Kecmanovic in the first-round, with his run ending in the next stage of the tournament to Casper Ruud. He has made two Challenger finals but a title has alluded the 40-year-old in 2025.

Botic van de Zandschulp attempted to qualify for the Paris Masters last week but lost in the second stage to Ethan Quinn. The Swiss Indoors was more encouraging for the Dutchman as he did qualify this time around and then won his first-round match with one of his best displays of the season as he crushed Jiri Lehecka 6-2 6-2. He would then lose to Reilly Opelka in a close three set match. It’s been an inconsistent year for Van de Zandschulp, but he did make the final of the Winston-Salem Open a few months ago.

If Van de Zandschulp can rediscover his level from Basel, Wawrinka will likely find it tough. The Dutchman’s serve can also give him an advantage indoors if it is firing.
