Sorana Cirstea kept alive her hopes of a title in her final season on tour as she defeated Anastasia Potapova in her quarter-final match. Breaks were exchanged at the start of the first set, but Cirstea struck with another break in the 11th game and served it out to take the lead. She takes on Daria Snigur in the last four. Snigur recovered magnificently to beat Yue Yuan. The Chinese player took the first set, but Snigur responded in dominant fashion to take the match into a decider. Yuan had the opportunity to serve out the match, but Snigur responded with two successive breaks to win 4-6 6-0 7-5.
Despite the ranking disparity between the two, Snigur should not be underestimated after her start to the season, with 10 wins from 12 matches. Nevertheless, Cirstea is the player with greater pedigree and she will be desperate to make a final at her home event.
