Sorana Cirstea vs Anastasia Zakharova prediction

Sorana Cirstea continued her strong run of form with a brilliant win over 2022 champion and top seed Liudmila Samsonova. The 35-year-old was not broken on serve and conceded just one break point as she won 6-4 6-1 after just an hour and 22 minutes. She has not dropped a set in the five matches she’s played this week, including the two qualifying stages. The Romanian reached the round-of-16 in Cincinnati and has enjoyed another fine run here.

Her opponent is Anastasia Zakharova in the last four after she was given a walkover following Eva Lys’ withdrawal from the event. The world number 100 has beaten Kimberly Birrell and Hailey Baptiste in the first two rounds of the tournament but has not featured for three days.

Zakharova will be well rested but it’s difficult to look past Cirstea for this one. She’s playing at a really encouraging level and will be determined to reach her first final of the year.
