Sonay Kartal vs Sara Bejlek prediction

Sonay Kartal took advantage of defending champion Belinda Bencic’s withdrawal to defeat Renata Zarazua and surge into the quarter finals in Abu Dhabi.

The British number two demolished the Mexican lucky loser 6-0 6-3 after the Swiss star was forced to pull out through illness.

Kartal, who has not dropped a set in four matches at the event (including qualifying), will now take on Sarah Bejlek for a spot in the last four. 

The Czech has been equally impressive, also notching up a flawless four-match run from qualifying and seeing off Jelena Ostapenko 6-4 6-3 last time out.

The 20-year-old should rise back into the top 100 on the back of this run but will feel confident about her chances, particularly given that she defeated Ostapenko and last year's finalist Ashlyn Krueger on her way to this part of the draw.

Kartal may have the edge in experience and ranking but Bejlek will be dangerous and both players may drop a set for the first time before this one is decided.
