Although she has fallen a couple of places in the rankings over the past week, Sonay Kartal recently broke into the world's top 50 for the first time in her career, so the Brit will not be short of confidence heading into her fourth Wimbledon.
The 23-year-old reached the third round at SW19 last year, her best run at a Grand Slam to date, and this year she is drawn against a player she faced less than a week earlier.
Jelena Ostapenko, a former semi-finalist at Wimbledon, won the pair's first-round encounter at Eastbourne, although it certainly wasn't one-way traffic. The Latvian, however, was forced to retire in her match following that with a twisted ankle, raising some doubts about her physical condition ahead of Wimbledon.
Ostapenko reached the quarter-finals here last year and is a sensational player on her day, but with the crowd's backing, don't be surprised to see Kartal force at least a deciding set in this one.
