Solana Sierra vs Qinwen Zheng prediction

Solana Sierra qualified for the tournament as she thrashed Ella Seidel and then came from a set down to beat Anna Blinkova. Her previous event was at the Libema Open, which saw her win her first match against Lois Boisson but then lose to Caty McNally. Sierra’s best WTA result of the year so far was a round-of-16 appearance in Madrid.

She faces Qinwen Zheng in round one. The 2024 Olympic champion is now down to 160 in the rankings. She lost her opening match at Queen’s Club, but did pick up her first win of the grass court season in Nottingham last week after she came from a set down to beat Maria Sakkari. However, she was unable to generate further momentum as she lost in the next stage to Talia Gibson.

Zheng has never really excelled on grass, and she has struggled for results this season. Sierra will have gained some confidence after her displays in qualifying, and she will hope that she can apply early pressure on the former world number four.
