Sofia Kenin struggled for much of 2025 with inconsistent results, and she’s made a similar kind of start this season with two losses from her opening three matches. She won her first match in Brisbane against Elena-Gabriela Ruse but then fell to a defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova. She then competed in Adelaide but lost in the first-round against Maya Joint.
She faces Peyton Stearns in the first-round. Stearns has also encountered problems in her warmup events, losing in the first-round of the Auckland Open to Kaitlin Quevedo and then only making the second-round in Hobart after falling short against Olga Danilovic.
