Sofia Kenin vs Belinda Bencic prediction
Sofia Kenin got her Charleston Open campaign off to a winning start with a 6-3 6-4 win over Bernarda Pera. The American did commit six double faults but won over 70% of points on both her first and second serve, saving five of the six break points on offer to Pera.
Kenin will be pleased to get back to winning ways after her 6-0 6-0 defeat to Coco Gauff in Miami and she now faces 17th seed Belinda Bencic for a place in the last 16.
Bencic has had an encouraging season, making the fourth round of the Australian Open and then winning the Abu Dhabi Open in her very next event, defeating number one seed Elena Rybakina along the way.
Her form during the Sunshine Double events was patchy, reaching the quarter-finals of Indian Wells before falling to defeat against Madison Keys and then losing tamely to Elena Svitolina in the second round in Miami.
Bencic made the final of this event in 2023 and we’re predicting her to advance through, but this could be a tight contest against the unpredictable Kenin.
