JOHN HIGGINS VS MATTHEW STEVENS PREDICTION
One of the more eye-catching first round matches here between two vastly experienced performers who know each other’s game inside out. You would have to make Higgins the favourite though, as the world number five is still at the top of his game and has a stellar record at the Crucible in recent times having been a runner-up in the last three years. Coming up short on those occasions will have hurt the Scot and he will be determined to go one better this time around but first he must navigate his way through this potential banana skin. Stevens’ game is not as consistent as it once was and he will be unable to contain Higgins who should be capable of covering the -1.5 handicap.
