Sloane Stephens vs Sinja Kraus prediction

Sloane Stephens did win her first-round match at the Canadian Open after a straight sets win over Solana Sierra. However, she failed to progress any further as she was blown away by Belinda Bencic in the next stage of the event. The 2017 US Open champion has competed in far more events than she did in 2025, but she is still struggling to make deep runs or produce significant results. Stephens is yet to advance beyond the second-round of an event this season. 

Her first-round opponent is Sinja Kraus. The Austrian qualified after a win over Claire Liu in the second stage. She moved up to 80 in the world last month, a career best. The highlight of Kraus’ season so far was her run to the title in Kitzbuhel on the ITF circuit. 

Kraus is continuing to improve and she has those qualifying wins. This will likely prove to be a tough match for Stephens.
