Sloane Stephens vs Camila Osorio prediction
2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens will make her first appearance on the tour since the Australian Open. The American qualified after winning all three stages but then lost in the first-round after a straight sets loss to former world number one Karolina Pliskova. Stephens was set to reappear at the Merida Open but decided to withdraw on the eve of the tournament.
Camila Osorio has already tasted success this season, after her victory at the Philippines Open, which saw her come from a set down to beat Donna Vekic at the end of January. The Colombian has competed in two events since, continuing her fine form by qualifying for the Qatar Open and reaching the third-round. She then competed in Merida but retired midway through her second-round match with Katie Boulter.
There are question marks over Stephens’ match fitness, and Osorio has far more matches under her belt, along with a recent title. She deserves to start as the favourite for this one.
