Sinja Kraus vs Julia Grabner prediction
Sinja Kraus began her season in encouraging fashion as she won her two qualifying matches to enter the main draw in Auckland. Kraus got past the veteran Anastasija Sevastova in three close sets before seeing off Kristina Mladenovic. The 23-year-old won a tour-level match in Hamburg last year, along with five lower-level titles, and will be looking to make the step up in 2026. She is close to breaking into the top 100 for the first time in her career.
She faces Julia Grabner in the first-round. The 29-year-old, who reached a high of 54 in the world in June 2023, also had success on the ITF circuit in 2025 as she won four titles and reached three other finals. Grabner also picked up a WTA 1000 victory as she navigated her way through to round two in Miami.
Both players have enjoyed plenty of success on clay courts. Grabern won their only meeting in Rio last October, beating Kraus in three sets. This could be another close encounter, but we give the edge to the experienced Grabner once again.
