Simona Waltert vs Petra Marcinko prediction

Simona Waltert has not featured on the tour since her first-round loss at the Hamburg Open to Mayar Sherif in July. The Swiss took the first set, but went on to lose the decider on a tiebreak. She has recorded just two WTA main draw wins this season, but did reach the final of an ITF event in Bastad, while also achieving a new career high ranking of world number 81 in February.

The 25-year-old takes on Petra Marcinko. The 20-year-old won her first tour-level title in Rabat earlier this year, along with a strong semi-final run at the Eastbourne Open. Marcinko’s last event was at the Iasi Open last month, which saw her win two matches before a quarter-final defeat to Tamara Zidansek.

The overall head-to-head is 3-1 in favour of Waltert, but Marcinko did win their most recent meeting in the qualifying stages of Eastbourne. Marcinko is worth backing on this occasion.
