Shuai Zhang vs Veronika Erjavec prediction

Shuai Zhang overcame a rain delay to make it into the next round of the Guangzhou Open after a straight sets win over Anastasia Zakharova. The first set was close, with Zhang going a break down at 4-3 but wrestling back the initiative to take the lead. The second was far more comfortable as she broke on four occasions to win 6-4 6-1 after one hour and 19 minutes.

Veronika Erjavec is her next opponent. The world number 100 defeated Tatjana Maria in three sets. She took the first set and mounted a remarkable comeback at 5-1 down in the second, winning five games in a row to serve for the match. However, Maria would break back and then save three match points in the tiebreak to dramatically force a decider. Erjavec held her nerve and won four straight games in the third set to win 6-4 6-7 6-2.

Zhang was far more convincing in her first-round match and should be confident of a win on home soil.
