Sebastian Korda exacted revenge for his Australian Open final loss to Michael Zheng as he recorded a comfortable victory in straight sets at the Dallas Open. The two Americans were involved in a five set epic in Melbourne, but Korda dominated this encounter as he won 6-3 6-4 without being broken on serve.
He will now face Frances Tiafoe. The two-time US Open semi-finalist overcame a slow start to beat Terence Atmane in his first-round match. Tiafoe was broken when serving to stay in the first set, but responded well as he dominated the next two sets to win 4-6 6-2 6-2 after one hour and 48 minutes.
Tiafoe leads the head-to-head 4-3 and won their last meeting at the French Open last year. He can dictate rallies with his powerful forehand though if they are extended, Korda’s court coverage will give him an opportunity of gaining the upper hand. This is a match that is sure to be competitive.
