Sebastian Baez’s summer hard court swing has seen him make the second-round of Cincinnati and Winston-Salem. The Argentine’s form took a huge slide after his final appearance at the Bucharest Open in April as he lost seven of his next eight matches. Despite some more recent victories, he hasn't inspired too much confidence and has six defeats from his eight matches on hard courts in 2025.

Lloyd Harris is his opponent in the first-round of the US Open. Harris qualified for the tournament after beating the likes of Dan Evans and Daniel Merida Aguilar. He does have a decent record at this major, having made the quarter-finals here in 2021. 

Harris will hope to take his momentum from the qualifying rounds with him and if he carries on his sharpness, he can put pressure on Baez early with his aggressive returns and defensive talent. We favour him to get through.
