Sara Bejlek vs Karolina Pliskova prediction

Sara Bejlek won her first-round match at the Canadian Open as she came from a set down to beat Xinyu Wang. However, she was then handed a tough match against former world number one and six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. Bejek won just three games against the seventh seed, as Swiatek dominated to win 6-0 6-3. The Czech’s form has been patchy since her first tour-level title at the Abu Dhabi Open in February.

She plays former world number one Karolina Pliskova at the Cincinnati Open. Pliskova also lost in the second-round, in straight sets to Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva. It’s still been an encouraging season for the 34-year-old, as she has returned to the top 70 in the world rankings. 

Pliskova leads the head-to-head after coming from a set down to win at the Nottingham Open two months ago. This should be another competitive match between the pair, but the fast court conditions should give the veteran’s serve and first-strike tennis even greater value.
