Jelena Ostapenko is aiming to clock up back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2025 French Open.
The Latvian saw off qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva 5-7 7-6 6-2 to set up a round of 16 tussle with Czech youngster Sara Bejlek.
This will be a first meeting between the pair and Ostapenko will be wary of a 20-year-old home hope who thumped world number 55 Ashlyn Krueger 6-3 6-0 in the first round.
Ostapenko was up and down in her opener before pulling clear in the third and she will need to bring that level of tennis to the court for this clash with the world number 101.
Bejlek has the consistency to force rash risks out of the second seed here and it’s well worth considering another three-setter and there’s a good argument to back the upset too.
