THE PREDICTION
Reigning Top 14 champions Toulouse suffered a setback in their tough quest to make the play-offs with a 19-15 defeat away at Toulon last Saturday making it back-to-back defeats on the road in the league. They stunned Ulster 50-49 on aggregate to reach the Champions Cup semi-finals recently but still lost to the Irish region 20-26 at home last time out here and this looks an absolutely vital clash with in-form La Rochelle, last season’s rivals. The visitors have won eight of their last nine matches across all competitions, with a 32-16 victory at home to struggling Perpignan last Saturday a fifth win on the spin. Toulouse have won each of their last five meetings between the two, including last season’s Top 14 play-off final and Champions Cup final but it would not be a surprise to see La Rochelle finally earn revenge. Backing Toulouse to win outright is not as over-cautious as it may appear here but the hosts should be able to cover around -7 on a good day.
