THE PREDICTION
Toulon beat Benetton 36-17 in the Challenge Cup play-offs to set-up a winnable fixture in the last eight next month at home to London Irish. Barring a dead rubber in the Challenge Cup group stages the week before they have been in good recent form and six Top 14 wins from their last eight suggests they can heap more domestic misery on reigning champions Toulouse. The visitors beat Ulster 23-30 last Saturday in an incredible turnaround from a home defeat the week before, reaching the semi-finals by a margin of just one point on aggregate. They have, however, lost each of their last eight away games in the Top 14 and it would be another huge result if they left Stade Mayol with anything. Given Toulouse’s exploits at Ulster last weekend taking Toulon to win outright is not as cautious as it first appears.
