THE PREDICTION
Clermont saw their three-match winning streak snapped in a 32-22 defeat at Toulon last Saturday to fall worryingly short of the play-off picture in the Top 14. They host Brive next for a winnable fixture but incoming clashes at Castres and with Montpellier on the final day of the regular season suggest they need a bonus-point victory here to keep hopes alive. Furthermore, Brive find themselves in their best stretch of form right now with four wins in their last seven Top 14 matches after last weekend’s 28-12 victory at home to Castres. The visitors beat Clermont 27-20 in the reverse fixture back in February but they have yet to win away from home this season and it is unlikely that they start now. Given their respective forms, backing Clermont to cover a cautious -8 seems wise here.
