THE TEAM NEWS

REDS

  • Queensland Reds sealed second spot in Super Rugby AU thanks to a huge win over Western Force in their last outing and on the back of their bye week, they will now get a crack at the only side above them in the standings.
  • The Reds led 0-15 at the break against the Force but a spectacular second half saw them score 42 points as their attack dazzled and that 5-57 success will give them some real confidence ahead of the finals.
  • The break came at just the right time for the Reds as they have been able to welcome back a couple of key players into the fold with Jordan Petaia returning to the bench while Chris Feauai-Sautia and Hunter Paisami are also back.

BRUMBIES

  • Brumbies secured their spot at the top of the Super Rugby AU standings as they did what was required to see off Western Force last week but they did not have things their own way and had to dig deep to seal the win.
  • The two teams were just separated by just three points at the half and the scores remained tight in the second period until the Brumbies crossed for back-to-back tries to confirm a 31-14 success.
  • Despite securing their place at the top of the standings, they have named a strong side here with Tevita Kuirdrani and Nic White returning to the team while Darcy Swain also comes into the starting XV.

THE PREDICTION

Reds and Brumbies have been the best two teams in Super Rugby AU and they will go head-to-head in the final game of the round robin stage before potentially meeting again in the final. The Queensland outfit have some work to do to make it to that game with the Brumbies as they must first overcome NSW Waratahs or Melbourne Rebels but they will be eager to go into that clash on the back of a confidence-boosting display. The Reds are unbeaten in Brisbane in 2020 and that will work in their favour here with the Brumbies able to make it a tight contest but with the benefit of a +3.5 start, it is the hosts that can claim the spoils here.
