BRUMBIES
- Brumbies suffered their first defeat of Super Rugby AU as they were beaten by Melbourne Rebels in their last outing but they remain in the driving seat to claim the title, although that will change if they suffer a second consecutive loss.
- The Brumbies have had a week off to reflect on that defeat as they were blown away by the Rebels and having trailed 27-7 at half-time, they were unable to mount a comeback as they went down 30-12.
- After such a poor performance, the Brumbies have wielded the axe with nine changes to their starting XV while Nic While is also set to make his first Super Rugby AU appearance from the bench.
NSW WARATAHS
- NSW Waratahs made it back-to-back victories which keeps their title hopes alive in Super Rugby AU but this is a must-win clash for them as they take on Brumbies with a defeat almost certainly ruling them out of the hunt for top spot.
- The Waratahs were solid in the first half of their clash with Western Force and they were able to build on their 8-16 lead by keeping their opponents scoreless in the second half to seal an 8-28 success.
- After a strong showing, the Waratahs have opted to stick with the same 23 that ran out last week but there are some alterations with Harry Johnson-Holmes, Joey Walton and Ned Hanigan earning spots in the starting XV.
THE PREDICTION
Brumbies and NSW Waratahs face-off in a potentially pivotal clash in Super Rugby AU. The Brumbies tasted defeat for the first time in the competition last time out but they will hope to respond to that on the back of their bye week. The Waratahs will be confident having won their last two but this will be a tough test for them and with the Brumbies making wholesale changes to their side, it might ignite a response. This could be one of the best encounters of the competition but the Brumbies will take some stopping and should be able to make it five wins in succession against the Waratahs.
