THE PREDICTION
South Africa comfortably won their first of two warm-up tests against Georgia for the incoming British & Irish Lions tour by 40-9. In their first international match since winning the Rugby World Cup back in 2019, the Springboks fell behind to an initially eager Georgian outfit. There was some exciting new talent on display in Aphelele Fassi and his debut try looked like the start of a wonderful career just in time to face the Lions in some capacity later this month, though round two with Georgia is first on the menu. The visitors scored three penalties against the Springboks due in no small part to defensive mistakes and that could be a lot tighter on Friday. South Africa to cover -28 here looks a reasonable outcome as new head coach Jacques Nienaber looks to encourage more expression in offence.
