THE PREDICTION
The British and Irish Lions will get their 2021 campaign underway with a tougher-than-it-looks test against Japan on Saturday at a likely boisterous Murrayfield no matter the capacity. The Lions have had some key drop-outs due to injuries, most notably perhaps Hamish Watson after a training ground concussion, but they have plenty of world class players ready to come into the side including Sam Simmonds who is still with Exeter ahead of the Premiership final. 10 of Japan’s starters from their 2019 World Cup quarter-final will start here and the ‘Brave Blossoms’ will be at their always-eager best to make more history with a win in a first ever match against the Lions. We will know a whole lot more about where this Lions team is at after the final whistle on Saturday evening but they should be able to comfortably cover -15 at Murrayfield despite their continuing injury setbacks.
