THE PREDICTION
Clermont Auvergne beat Brive 41-10 last Saturday to make it four wins from their last five Top 14 outings as they make amends for a poor start to the season. This looks a desperately tough fixture at home to Premiership leaders Leicester Tigers but the French giants will likely find that so often missing extra gear for a Champions Cup quarter-final and the visitors will have to be at their very best to edge this. Leicester missed out last weekend’s domestic action but a 17-22 victory at Exeter Chiefs the week before is a pretty solid result on the road. They lost 34-27 at Saracens in their previous trip and it is tempting to split the difference here with a hefty +4 head-start for the visitors. Clermont’s superb home record, however, suggests backing them outright to edge this is the sensible move.
