THE PREDICTION
Toulon’s recent upturn in form was somewhat dashed last Saturday in a 20-17 defeat to Top 14 relegation candidates Biarritz and there is unhappiness amongst fans over the the incoming departure of Louis Carbonel. They should still have more than enough to beat travelling Benetton in this Challenge Cup first leg as they look to maintain a four-match winning streak on their own turf but the scoreline could come a lot lower than some expect. Travelling Benetton beat Top 14 strugglers Perpignan 17-7 last Saturday to qualify for the last eight, snapping a seven-match winless run in the process. They have only beaten fellow Italians Zebre on the road this season and recent defeats on the road have come by at least 10 points. Take Toulon to cover -8 for a cautious pick.
