THE PREDICTION
La Rochelle finished second behind Toulouse last season after a humongous battle at the top of the Top 14 and they also, agonisingly, finished runner-up to Toulouse in the Champions Cup. They just fell short of avenging those results with a 16-20 loss to the reigning champions last Sunday, with a home defeat suggesting already that their gap in quality is still significant. Racing 92 almost usurped La Rochelle into second place at the last second last season, finishing on joint 78 points but behind them on points difference, and they should come back as strong this season. An opening day win away at Parisian rivals Stade Francais, and an exciting 21-36 one at that, should give them the spring in their step required to make it two from two here. La Rochelle should still not be underestimated but an away day at Racing is as difficult as they come in the Top 14, so take the hosts to cover -4.
