THE PREDICTION
Australia’s hopes of winning back the Bledisloe Cup were dashed for another year after a record 5-43 loss to the All Blacks in Sydney in which the Wallabies were never really in the fight. Luckily for the neutral, this fourth fixture is no dead rubber thanks to its unique double-status as a Tri Nations tournament test. The All Blacks will quickly turn their attentions to winning this trophy too and have put themselves in pole position with that emphatic victory on the road which is all the more impressive as they have forfeited the rights to host the reverse fixture in this competition. They will play a second away match in Brisbane here, and with the Wallabies’ egos bruised last week this match should see a more defensive, damage-limitation style from Dave Rennie’s side. The All Blacks are still likely to smash through their bitter rivals but it should be an altogether smaller score-line and so this match going under 40 points in a New Zealand win is a reasonable option.
