Pau have been one of the surprise package of the Top 14 so far this season but they could not handle the like of Clermont Auvergne away from home. They scored 29 points to Clermont’s 50 which strongly reflects their position right now in the league table in fifth place with a negative points difference – the next highest negative being Bayonne in ninth. Therefore, matches concerning Pau are likely to be high-scoring affairs and this test with La Rochelle should be no different. La Rochelle are on a three match winning streak and would be most fans’ favourite to take the points here but Pau’s season is an anomaly that makes this a difficult one to call.
