Bordeaux took out their Champions Cup semi-final loss on hosts Bayonne last Saturday with a 22-47 romp that set them up nicely for a continued assault for the top six. Currently, if Bordeaux were to win their two games in-hand with bonus points, they would be in second place behind Toulouse in what is becoming a really tight and exciting battle for the play-offs and they will be eager to double down in this home tie against Castres in sixth place. However, the visitors are there by merit after an incredible second-half of their Top 14 season has seen them win 10 of 13 domestic matches played in 2021. Castres are riding a five-match winning streak in the league that includes the top two Toulouse and La Rochelle, although their best work has been admittedly done at home.
