- Wigan Warriors’ game with Catalans Dragons was called off owing to an outbreak of COVID-19 within the Wigan camp but they have been given the all-clear to return to action for this clash with Salford Red Devils.
- That postponement meant Wigan retained their spot in second spot in Super League and another win here would move them a step closer to securing their place in the play-offs with games running out for the chasing pack to overhaul the Warriors.

- Salford Red Devils suffered Challenge Cup heartache as they were defeated by the narrowest of margins against Leeds Rhinos in the Wembley final last weekend and they must attempt to put that behind them as they turn their attention back to Super League action.
- The Red Devils left everything on the field in that clash but Luke Gale’s late drop goal separated the two teams but to compound matters for Salford, they have lost Kevin Brown for the rest of the season.
- He played through the pain at Wembley but will now go under the knife to rectify a syndesmosis injury with Ryan Lannon also suffering the same injury during training earlier in the week but Andy Ackers is among those to return to the squad after he was cup-tied at the weekend.

Salford Red Devils have shown they can compete with the best teams in the country during their Challenge Cup run but they fell just short in the final as they were edged by Leeds Rhinos. That disappointment will still be fresh on the mind but they must look to put it behind them as they return to Super League action with a tough clash against Wigan Warriors. With their game against Catalans Dragons postponed last week, Wigan should be refreshed as they attempt to stay close to St. Helens in the race for the league leaders’ shield. The Warriors have lost just one of their last four league matches and they should be able to win again here, although the Red Devils can make it tricky for them so the margin of victory is likely to be 1-12 points.
