THE TEAM NEWS

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

  • Huddersfield Giants continued their charge towards the top four as they made it three successive wins thanks to overcoming Hull KR last week and they will hope to keep their run going as they face Salford Red Devils.
  • Interim head coach Luke Robinson is doing his chances of earning the job on a permanent basis no harm after starting with a 100% record and another win here would leave them right on the coattails of fourth-placed Catalans Dragons.
  • Lee Gaskell looks to have finally overcome his injury woes and is set to feature here in what is another big boost for the Giants but they are still without the likes of Jordan Turner and Adam O’Brien.

21-man squad: Cudjoe, Edwards, Gaskell, Gavet, Golding, Hewitt, Holmes, Lawrence, Matagi, McGillvary, McIntosh, McQueen, Moore, Russell, L. Senior, Sezer, Trout, Ja. Wardle, Jo. Wardle, Wood, Young

Unavailable: Jon Luke Kirby, Chester Butler, Aaron Murphy, Adam Walne, Ukuma Ta’ai, Adam O’Brien, Jordan Turner, Matty English, Oliver Wilson

SALFORD RED DEVILS

  • Salford Red Devils advanced to the Challenge Cup final with a sensational win over Warrington Wolves at the weekend and they will be eager to build on their recent strong form as they take on Huddersfield Giants.
  • The Red Devils fought back to claim the win with a late try and that means they have now won their last four matches in all competitions but they will be put to the test here having played two matches last week.
  • Head coach Ian Watson is likely to rotate his side after the draining semi-final effort with Kevin Brown and Sebastine Ikahihifo dropping out of the 21-man squad but Luke Yates will return from a ban.

21-man squad: Ackers, Ashall-Bott, Atkin, Burke, Dudson, Flanagan, Greenwood, Inu, Kear, Lannon, Lolohea, Lussick, McCarthy, Mossop, Ormondroyd, Pauli, Sarginson, Watkins, Welham, Williams, Yates

Unavailable: Ken Sio, Ed Chamberlain, Josh Johnson, Niall Evalds, Kevin Brown, Sebastine Ikahihifo

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield Giants made it three wins in a row as they defeated Hull KR last week and they are building momentum for a timely run towards the top four. They face a tricky test here as they face Challenge Cup finalists Salford Red Devils who secured their place in the Wembley showpiece with a thrilling win at the weekend but they might be feeling the after-effects of that clash here. Despite winning their last four in all competitions, Salford have only won four of their 11 games in Super League so far this season and with Huddersfield desperate to keep the pressure on those above them in the play-off spots, the Giants can do enough to make it four consecutive wins.
