- Castleford Tigers were unable to hold on to a seven-point lead in the second half of their game with Huddersfield Giants last week as they allowed 19 unanswered points to succumb to yet another defeat.
- The Tigers have now lost five of their last six Super League matches and that run is one win in seven of including their Challenge Cup defeat to Hull FC in the middle of September in what has been a disappointing campaign for Daryl Powell’s side.
- With their chances of making the top four decreasing by the week, the Tigers face further issues this week with the likes of Liam Watts and Jesse Sene-Lefao dropping out from last week’s 17, although Jake Trueman could make a welcome return in the halves.

- Hull FC mounted a comeback against Salford Red Devils last week but fell short in their attempt to take anything from the game as they suffered their second successive defeat in all competitions.
- After they put in a disappointing display in their Challenge Cup exit to Wigan Warriors in their previous outing, Hull did not fare much better against the Red Devils, despite losing by just six points.
- The Black and Whites have looked lacklustre in attack whilst their goalline defence has left a lot to be desired, though they will be able to call upon Scott Taylor following a prolonged absence but there is no place in the squad for injured captain Danny Houghton and Josh Griffin.

Castleford Tigers and Hull FC are arguably the two biggest underachievers in Super League so far this season and they will now do battle in this clash at the Jungle. This is Castleford’s first time back on home soil since the league resumed and they will hope that can give them a boost in this clash. Both have served up some poor efforts in their recent matches but it was Hull who claimed the spoils the last time they met in their Challenge Cup clash not too long ago. However, the Tigers will be out to right the wrongs of that display and although both teams are far from full-strength, it is the home side that can do enough to come out on top.
