THE TEAM NEWS

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

  • Newcastle Knights were disappointing as they failed to build on their first win of the season against Wests Tigers with them going down to the Dolphins last week.
  • The Knights had to contend with a long list of unavailable players last week but are able to make a handful of changes here while they have opted to drop Dom Young on the wing.

Starting 13: Miller, Hunt, Gagai, Best, Marzhew, Gamble, Hastings, D. Saifiti, Brailey, Thompson, Jones, Fitzgibbon, Mann – Interchanges: Crossland, Hetherington, Croker, Johns – Reserves: Lucas, Clune, Cant, Tuala, Frizell

Unavailable: Simi Sasagi (Injured), Adam Elliott (Injured), Jacob Saifiti (Suspended), Kalyn Ponga (Injured)

CANBERRA RAIDERS

  • Canberra Raiders claimed a superb victory over Cronulla Sharks last week as they claimed their first win of the season and they will be confident of building on that success here.
  • It was comfortably the best all-round showing of the season for the Raiders and while they are able to call upon Josh Papali’i for the first time this season, they have lost hooker Danny Levi to a broken jaw.

Starting 13: Kris, Schiller, Timoko, Smith-Shields, Hopoate, Wighton, Fogarty, Papali’i, Woolford, Tapine, Young, Whitehead, Harawira-Naera – Interchanges: Starling, Saulo, Horsburgh, Guler – Reserves: Frawley, Schneider, Mooney, Valemei, Hola

Unavailable: Xavier Savage (Injured), Adrian Trevilyan (Injured), Jordan Rapana (Suspended), Ata Mariota (Injured), Danny Levi (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Newcastle Knights were poor last week as their under-strength side were beaten by the Dolphins. The pressure will start to mount unless they show big signs of improvement but they may find it tough going as they take on Canberra Raiders. The away side come into this on the back of their first win of the year and having won the past two matchups between the two teams, the Raiders are fancied to make it back-to-back successes in this one.
