THE TEAM NEWS

MANLY SEA EAGLES

  • Manly Sea Eagles were given a scare by Wests Tigers until they were able to run out comfortable victors on the back of their opponents going down to 12 men in the second period of last week’s clash.
  • The Sea Eagles made it back-to-back wins with that success but they will need to be better here as they aim to claw their way into the top eight, although they will receive a huge boost with skipper Daly Cherry-Evans coming back into the side having sat out with a quad injury last week.

Starting 13: Garrick, Saab, Harper, Koula, Tuipulotu, Foran, Cherry-Evans, Aloiai, Croker, Sipley, Olakau’atu, Davey, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Walker, Schuster, Taupau, Keppie – Reserves: Paseka, B. Trbojevic, Bullemor, Weekes, De Luis

Unavailable: Brad Parker, Karl Lawton, Morgan Boyle, Tom Trbojevic

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

  • North Queensland Cowboys made it eight wins from their last nine as they swept aside St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and they look every inch a top four side having won that game without getting out of first gear.
  • It was an even more impressive win for the Cowboys as they were not at full strength and while they have lost Heilum Luki to a season-ending knee injury, they have moved to sign Luciano Leilua from Wests Tigers with the back-rower hoping for a late call-up here while Reuben Cotter and Jeremiah Nanai are back after their State of Origin exploits.

Starting 13: Drinkwater, Tabuai-Fidow, Holmes, Hiku, Taulagi, Dearden, Townsend, McLean, Robson, Cotter, Lemuelu, Nanai, Taumalolo – Interchanges: Granville, Hess, Taunoa-Brown, Neame – Reserves: Condon, Elliot, Bradley, Hampton, Derby

Unavailable: Mitchell Dunn, Kyle Feldt, Heilum Luki, Tom Gilbert

THE PREDICTION

This looks like an intriguing matchup on paper as Manly Sea Eagles host North Queensland Cowboys. The Sea Eagles have disappointed on the whole this season and start this round outside of the top eight despite winning their last two games. The same cannot be said for the Cowboys having lost just four times all season while they are currently on a run of eight wins from their last nine. The Sea Eagles have won the past four matchups between the two teams but the Cowboys are in a much better spot this time out and are favoured to improve on their brilliant run of form.
