THE TEAM NEWS

GOLD COAST TITANS

  • Gold Coast Titans’ worrying run of form continued as they suffered a fifth successive loss thanks to a heavy defeat in their clash with Sydney Roosters last week and the pressure is beginning to mount on head coach Justin Holbrook.
  • The Titans dragged themselves back into the contest having trailed 24-4 as they closed the gap to just eight points but then allowed the Roosters to pull away again as they lost out 44-16 and that capitulation has seen Holbrook ring the changes here with Jayden Campbell’s return at fullback is a big inclusion.

Starting 13: Campbell, Sami, Kelly, Marsters, Isaako, Brimson, Sexton, Fotuaika, Clark, Wallace, Liu, Fermor, Fa’asuamaleaui – Interchanges: Boyd, Lisone, Ese’ese, McIntyre – Reserves: Thompson, Jolliffe

Unavailable: Shallin Fuller, Joseph Vuna, Treymain Spry, David Fifita, Will Smith

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

  • St. George Illawarra Dragons saw their three-match winning streak come to a shuddering halt as they were outclassed by Melbourne Storm last weekend but they will hope to bounce back here.
  • The Dragons were blown away by the Storm, especially in the second period as they shipped 30 points but head coach Anthony Griffin has kept the faith in the same 17 as he looks for his side to produce a response.

Starting 13: Mbye, Mat. Feagai, Suli, Lomax, Ravalawa, Amone, B. Hunt, F. Molo, Sullivan, De Belin, Bird, McGuire, Sims – Interchanges: Lawrie, Woods, Fuimaono, Gosiewski– Reserves: Ramsey, Sloan

Unavailable: Billy Burns, Max Feagai, Jaydn Su’A, Andrew McCullough

THE PREDICTION

Gold Coast Titans are stuck in a rut and will need to produce a good performance to avoid a sixth successive loss. They were not good enough for large spells in last week’s loss to Sydney Roosters while St. George Illawarra Dragons also come into this on the back of a heavy loss. The Dragons were blown away by Melbourne Storm but their form prior to that defeat makes them the more appealing of the two teams to claim the win, although it is a very tentative selection and it could be wise to give this game a swerve in the betting markets.
