- South Sydney Rabbitohs prepared for the finals in the best possible fashion as they stunned Sydney Roosters in a one-sided contest and after humiliating their rivals with a blistering attacking performance, they will believe they can mount a challenge for the premiership.
- The Rabbits were ruthless in the 60-8 annihilation, running in ten tries in what was by far and away their best performance of the season and they will head into the finals full of confidence knowing their attack, led by Cody Walker, can cause problems for anyone.
- In a further boost for Souths, they are able to call upon back-rower Jaydn Su’A for this clash after he completed a suspension with his inclusion seeing Cameron Murray revert to lock, Liam Knight switch to the bench while Hame Sele drops out of the 17.

- Newcastle Knights produced a poor performance to prepare for the finals as they fell to a disappointing defeat against Gold Coast Titans last week and they will need to quickly turn that effort around ahead of this contest with South Sydney Rabbitohs.
- The Knights managed to cross for a solitary try in the 36-6 defeat and will need to be much-improved on both sides of the ball as they come up against a South Sydney side that could take them to the cleaners if they are not careful.
- Of those teams to finish in the top eight, only Cronulla Sharks conceded fewer points than the Knights during the regular season and only Parramatta Eels scored less so this is a big task for Newcastle to step up but they are boosted by the return of Lachlan Fitzgibbon.
THE PREDICTION
South Sydney Rabbitohs sent out a warning shot to the rest of the NRL as they produced a devastating attacking display to rout reigning premiers Sydney Roosters. Cody Walker was in scintillating form and at the heart of everything good for the Rabbits, leading to calls that he was currently the best player in the world. Few would argue based on the way he has ended the season and he will be the key man in this contest as Souths host Newcastle Knights. Souths ended the season with seven wins from their last nine but the Knights come into this on the back of three losses in their last five and with the Bunnies coming in on the back of last week’s effort, they should prove to be too good here and can advance to next week with a win by at least 13 points.
