Former European champion Ross Smith has delivered plenty of promising performances in 2026, winning the International Darts Open in May while also storming to a Players Championship title at the beginning of June.
A run to the semi-finals of the inaugural Slovak Darts Open less than a month ago was also an encouraging sign for a player who made the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay two years ago.
Kevin Doets, though, has to be one of the most improved players on tour, particularly on the floor where he has won an event and enjoyed several other deep runs.
The Dutchman has also been a solid performer on the European Tour, and will be keen to make an impression on his World Matchplay debut.
It's tough to pick a winner in this one, but Doets is playing with so much confidence right now and we think he can sneak a close match.
