Roman Safiullin vs Novak Djokovic prediction
Roman Safiullin progressed to the round-of-16 at Wimbledon for the second time in his career as he outplayed Joao Fonseca to win in straight sets. Safiullin was the dominant player from start to finish, saving all five break points on offer and firing 48 winners as he won 6-3 6-3 6-3 after two hours and nine minutes.
He will now face seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic for a place in the quarter-finals. Djokovic was tested by Arthur Rinderknech but managed to overcome the Frenchman in four sets on Centre Court. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was in cruise control as he took a two sets to love lead, but Rinderknech dominated the third and forced a tiebreak in the fourth. Djokovic regrouped to win 7-5 6-4 1-6 7-6 (4).
Djokovic leads the head-to-head 3-0 and is yet to drop a set to Safiullin. If the Russian can replicate the level he produced in the previous round, he will cause problems for Djokovic. However, that is a big ask.
