Roman Safiullin vs Marton Fucsovics prediction

Roman Safiullin last competed on the Challenger Tour in Cancun, losing in the quarter-finals to Hubert Hurkacz. The Russian had beaten Sebastian Ofner and Stan Wawrinka to reach that stage of the event. His highlight of the season was his superb run from qualifying to the round-of-16 at Wimbledon. He defeated Andrey Rublev and Joao Fonseca, before his run came to an end against Novak Djokovic. Safiullin has also won two Challenger titles. 

Safiullin plays Marton Fucsovics in the first-round. The Hungarian is the defending champion at this tournament, having beaten Botic van de Zandschulp in last year’s final. He was forced to retire early on against Terence Atmane in the first-round of the Cincinnati Open last time out. He also suffered a straight sets loss to Corentin Moutet in his opening match in Montreal. As it stands, Fucsovics has lost 16 of his 25 matches this season.

Despite his success last year, Fucsovics has struggled in recent times. Safiullin has enough quality to progress to the next round.
