Roman Safiullin vs Botic van de Zandschulp prediction

Roman Safiullin pulled off an upset in round one as he beat Andrey Rublev in a five set thriller. The match went all the way to a deciding set tiebreak, with Safiullin saving four match points and converting one of his own to win 6-4 6-7 (6) 3-6 6-3 7-6 (12) after three hours and 58 minutes. Safiullin qualified for the event, and now has four wins on the bounce.

He will now face Botic van de Zandschulp for a place in the third-round. The Dutchman defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic in four sets. Van de Zandschulp was broken just once and recovered from losing the second set to win 6-3 6-7 (2) 6-4 6-0 after two hours and 48 minutes.

Safiullin did have to qualify, but he is a former quarter-finalist at Wimbledon and performed brilliantly to beat Rublev in the first-round. Van de Zandschulp is still a tough player on this surface and should be able to make this very competitive over four or five sets.
