Robin Montgomery vs Danielle Collins prediction
Robin Montgomery earned a fine 6-1 6-3 win over Viktoriya Tomova in her first-round match, despite a lack of experience on the surface. She created a number of break point opportunities, converting six of 11 while her serve was at the backbone of a strong performance, with six aces in the match.
She will face a far sterner test in the shape of Danielle Collins, who earned a bye and begins her tournament at the second-round stage. Collins fell to a second-round defeat to Elena Svitolina at Indian Wells before getting through to the third round in Miami but losing to eventual champion and world number one Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.
Collins has not played on the surface for a long while but still has pedigree, having won two WTA tour titles on clay including here last year. Montgomery should prove to be no match for the defending champion and we can see nothing other than a comfortable win for Collins.
