Roberto Carballes Baena advanced to the second-round of both Masters 1000 tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati, going on to lose to Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe in straight sets. Arthur Rinderknech is ranked just seven places higher than his first-round opponent.
